A brief encounter with Cutie-Patootie!

By victoria | Posted in ITALY, Travel on April 28th, 2006 |

Last night in Napoli, I didn’t mind if the train was delayed. The longer I waited there surrounded by people, the less time I’d be alone in Lamezia waiting for my connection.

When the train eventually showed up, I found my seat and got comfortable. And Ding Dong! in walked some young eye-candy to keep me company. A twenty-seven and beautiful military officer (minus the uniform, but with clothes–shame), even with his man-purse Emanuele was cute.

We spent three hours talking and each trying to learn the others language.

“You come stay with me for two weeks,” he joked, ”you will learn Italian and I will learn English.” Oh, and can we do that whilst lying beneath some crisp white sheets and drinking champagne? I’m totally there. Nice idea but not to be. Alas, the conversation ended, I disembarked at Lamezia and he continued to his home in Sicily.

I fell asleep in the waiting room listening to the rain hitting the tracks. Even at 0330 I could hear birdsong. I awoke an hour later to the smell of coffee. Two cappuccinos and 30 minutes later I was wide awake and on my way to Tropea, accompanied by the rain and the hope that perhaps my next encounter will be with someone with a few more wrinkles than me.

Did you get a pic of him? :) You know I’m sicilian right? Damn! I knew I should’ve met you out in Italy! Glad to see you’re meeting fun new people and having an amazing time!!

I figured it might have seemed just a little forward to take his photo while sitting next to him. “Hey, can I add you to my scrap book of photos?”

Adorable though, darling. You’d have loved him but unfortunately, I don’t think he’d have felt the same. Will do my best to hook you up next time, promise.

Oooh… an Italian lover would be nice. I can imagine being under the clean white sheets, having sweet Italian nothings whispered in my ear.

Keep up the posts!! :-)

p.s. I wonder how you say “Oh God! Don’t stop!” in Italian?? ;-P
