Examples of the “bad” people in Albania

  • Upon my arrival in Vlora, Agnon bought me three bananas even though I only wanted one, and paid for my bus ticket to Fier.

  • “Bari” the microbus driver turned off the official route to find my hotel for me.

  • Spiro had heard about an English woman in Siranda looking for the internet cafe (after one hour of searching I’d given up and sat on a step) and tracked me down to show me the way.

  • The man in the book shop gave me his own personal map of Greece and wouldn’t accept any money, no matter how much I tried.

  • Angela at the ice-cream parlor gave me a free cone, having only met her the night before.

  • No one has hassled, harassed, mugged, raped or planted any landmine in my pathway.

All in all, a pretty scary group of people……

I’m serious, this entry made me get choked up. It’s these kinds of experiences that make me want to run out the door NOW and catch a plane to anywhere.

Thank You for your kind words. It is people like you that Albanians will go out of their way to help and make them feel comfortable in their country and home.
I was born in Vlora, and I currently live in New York. Albania is a very beautiful country and I encourage evryone to go and visit it,

Regards to all,

Vasil, a pleasure to hear from you. I had a wonderful experience in Albania–nothing like what I was expecting. The scenery and people were fabulous and I would sincerely encourage folks to visit this beautiful country.
Regards, Victoria
